Bird Watching

Bird Watching has become an increasingly popular recreational activity, and the Texas Hill Country is home to numerous species of birds; some of which are endangered. Birds are beautiful and come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. When you spot them, they could be in the middle of a feeding routine, mating dance, and other intriguing behaviours. You may hear some of them chirping and see them flying about our cabins and ranch. When away from Campo Rio, you may catch them throughout the area. For instance, the Lost Maples State Park is a great spot for watching the Golden-Cheeked Warbler.

Below, you’ll find a list of several birds which can be seen when you visit to our ranch and links to Texan government websites detailing each of them.
